FAQs

Who is Eligible

Anyone with an auto loan or lease payment is eligible for our plans! Whether your payments are made directly to a financial institution or to you as the member, you can participate in our coverage. To ensure your eligibility, simply specify your payment arrangement and include the loan or lease end date when signing up. This information helps us provide you with the best service tailored to your needs.

What happens if I need to make a claim?

To make a claim, your vehicle must be out of service for at least 30 days if it requires mechanical repairs. As a member, you will need to upload or email the mechanic's work order, including the dates when the service will begin and end.

If your vehicle is totaled, please provide the mechanic's work order along with any reports from your insurance provider. In the case of theft or vandalism, you will need to include a police report and any relevant documentation from your insurance provider. Ensuring you have these documents ready will help make your payment within 72 hours.

When does my membership start?

Your membership begins as soon as you complete your registration and your membership fee is accepted. However, plan coverage will take effect after 90 days or three monthly payments of the membership fee. If you experience a total loss after becoming a member, coverage will begin immediately. For cases of extreme financial hardship, coverage will not commence until you have made 12 consecutive monthly payments of the membership fee.

When does my membership end?

Your membership ends when your loan or lease reaches its end date. The membership fee will be canceled automatically based on the loan or lease date you provide during registration. However, you also have the right to terminate your membership at any time, hassle-free, should your circumstances change.

How long does it take to make a claim?

At Automotive Protection Technology (APT), we’ve created a simplified system to ensure claims are handled smoothly and efficiently. Members can easily submit their claims online, and once the necessary information is reviewed, APT will work quickly to process and provide the payment, ensuring you get the support you need when it matters most!

How many claims can I make?

Members can make up to three claims per year. However, after the second claim, Automotive Protection Technology (APT) reserves the right to investigate the mechanical soundness of the vehicle. During this process, APT will request all pertinent information regarding the vehicle's regular maintenance. If it is determined that the member has not consistently maintained the vehicle, APT reserves the right to deny any claims for a two-year period.

For cases of extreme financial hardship, members are limited to requesting one payment per coverage year. If more than two requests are made throughout the lifetime of the membership, APT will require additional information from the member to substantiate their claim of financial hardship.2
